Made in Italy, neapolitan pizza in the heart of Chelsea

"made in Italy is a need; a need for us to bring a little bit of our Southern Italian homeland with us to the UK."

Pizzas

Their pizzas are made with 48 hours slow-fermented sourdough and only using the finest Italian flours.

They have a huge selection of pizzas to accommodate every palate. They indeed have the classics like Marinara, Margherita, Salsiccia e Friarelli and so on, as well as the special ones. including pizzas with 'nduja and stracciatella, cooked ham, burrata and Bronte pistachio or gorgonzola, truffle and mushrooms.

STEP 1: choose your base:

  • traditional one - made with Double 00 flour - made following an old recipe which results in an easily digestible Neapolitan pizza

  • gluten-free *unfortunately is baked in the same oven as the other pizzas and might therefore contain traces of gluten,

STEP 2: choose your mozzarella:

  • homemade, made by award-winning cheesemaker

  • vegan, made with coconut oil

  • stracciatella di burrata

What we ordered

First things first, we ordered this beautiful vegetarian sharing board. This appetizer consisted of burrata, roasted aubergines and courgettes, artichokes, bruschetta with fresh cherry tomatoes and cheese, olives and their homemade pesto, which reminded me of the one I had in Genoa, where it originates from.

Everything was delicious and overall it was a great way to start the dinner.

LA BO.CA 3.0 MARINARA SALSICCIA E FRIARELLI

We then moved onto the star of the dinner: pizza.

As always, I had to try their Marinara which, once again, never fail to amaze me. It's such a basic pizza with nothing elaborated or extravagant on top but that's how you truly understand if the quality of the pizza is good or not.

The tomato sauce was really nice and tasty and the touch of basil really freshened the whole dish. We then had another classic, Salsiccia e Friarelli, a type of bitter green grown extensively in Campania which you can't find at the normal supermarkets, so to be able to finally eat it again was a real pleasure. The last one had pistachios from Bronte -a village on Mount Etna, burrata, and cooked ham. The mozzarella was heavenly melted and the combo of the ham and the pistachio really hit the spot.
